You might See after a Tampa, Florida Area Auto Accident
One car accident is capable of causing
injury to many different areas of the body. From the head
to the back and the shoulders to the knees, you may find
yourself with a laundry list of injuries after a car accident.
To address your injuries properly, you may need to visit
a variety of medical specialists with experience in the
type of injuries you sustained.
Within a short period of time after
a car accident in the Tampa Bay, Florida area, emergency
personnel will take you to a hospital emergency room if
you have injuries at the scene and there is a concern
that you won't be able to get to the hospital without
assistance. At the emergency room, your injuries will
be assessed by nurses and doctors who are specially trained
in trauma care. The emergency room's first goal is to
figure out whether or not your injuries are life-threatening
and to stabilize your condition. If you are able to answer
questions at the emergency room, the nurses and doctors
may ask you about the circumstances of your accident and
about your medical history.
As they work
to stabilize your condition, the emergency room may call
in specialists to treat injuries such as traumatic brain
injuries, broken bones, lacerations, and other serious
injuries. Some of the medical specialists you may see
include:
- Orthopedist—diagnoses and treats
bones and joints
- Anesthesiologist—administers drugs
to stop pain and sedate the patient, if necessary
- Cardiologist—diagnoses and treats
injuries to the heart and circulatory system
- Neurologist—handles injuries to
the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord,
and nerves
- Psychologist—assists with post traumatic
stress disorder and other anxieties and fears the accident
victim may be feeling
- Radiologist—reads x-rays, CT scans,
MRI scans, and other imagery to locate and diagnose
your injuries
Once you leave
the hospital, there's a good chance you will need to see
some of the above specialists again in the near future.
In addition, you may need to make appointments with other
specialists such as a chiropractor and a physical
therapist for ongoing care and rehabilitation.
As you visit these various specialists,
make sure to keep track of everything and keep your Tampa
car accident lawyer informed of your medical needs.
Your attorney will need to be aware of your medical condition
so that he or she can file an accurate claim that covers
